favorite songs of all time.
a facebook note i recently was tagged in titled “top 20 songs of all time” took me a long while to respond to. not that it was really a big deal to anybody else but me, but i wanted to personally come up with a list of songs that have changed me for whatever reason, or songs that will always mean a lot to me. since the note only called for 20 and i have like 40 i decided to type them all out here for anyone who cares, and also for my own personal records.
1. Wagon Wheel by Against Me! -it’s pretty, and the first song i learned on the guitar.
2. Remembering Sunday by All Time Low -the first time i heard this, my sister was playing it and singing to it and it was beautiful.
3. Southern Weather by The Almost -This song just has amazing chords and a beautiful vocalist.
4. Don’t Call Me Peanut by Bayside -It makes me think about everything good that happened in the past.
5. Me Vs. Maradona Vs. Elvis by Brand New -My mom and I listen to this on repeat in the car, blaring. It’s just a good memory that I have when I hear this.
6. No One Would Riot For Less by Bright Eyes -Definitely my favorite Bright Eyes song. It’s melodic and kind of eerie and (of course) the lyrics and vocals are top notch.
7. California Bound by Carolina Liar -Easily my theme song. Listen to it and you’ll know.
8. The Scientist by Coldplay -The first time I heard this song it was at the end of an AMAZING movie, Wicker Park. After that point my mom and I became quickly obssessed with it.
9. F.C.P.R.E.M.I.X. by Fall Of Troy -Well…just listen to it. Enough said. You’re welcome.

11. She Doesn’t Get It (Acoustic) by The Format -This is the second song I learned on guitar and one of those that I’ve heard so many times but have never gotten tired of. Currently number 1 on my Most Played on itunes.
12. I Am Hollywood by He Is Legend -It’s fantastic. It’s hard and fast and mean and gets to the point and, well, let’s face it, I am Hollywood.
13. Here (In Your Arms) by Hellogoodbye -I saw them perform this on some late night tv show, and I fell in love, and I listened to everything by Hellogoodbye I could get my hands on. Needless to say I was a fan.
14. Oh, It Is Love by Hellogoodbye -Because a good love song is simple, and played with a beautiful instrument, and sang by a melodic vocalist.
15. Two Weeks In Hawaii by Hellogoodbye -It just shows the naivety and cute tendencies of young love.
16. I Wish You Were Here by Incubus -One of my FAVORITE riffs and the drums are equally fantastic.
17. Pardon Me by Incubus -The beat pattern change when it gets to the chorus is one that I will never get tired of hearing.
18. California Waiting by Kings Of Leon -Major chords and happiness. Optimism for the future, in California. Just like me.
19. Four Kicks by Kings Of Leon -Mmmmm I love Caleb. He is amazing at what he does.
20. Sex On Fire by Kings Of Leon -When I first heard this I thought it was a joke. I mean, I’m sure it kind of is, but still.
21. Promise by Matchbook Romance -This brings me back.. Years ago, when everything was fun, and I never had problems, and life was all about being young and in love.
22. Where I Stood by Missy Higgins -Julie and I had a good time with this song. Crying in my car. My God.
23. Time Is Running Out by Muse -Another song like Promise, where I just go back to fun and learning who I was going to be.
24. Understatement by New Found Glory -Or really anything on the Sticks And Stones album, the whole album shaped me really.
25. Don’t Ask Me by OK GO -Another song Julie and I had fun with, over the same people, for the same reason. The perfect theme song for a break up.
26. Misery Business by Paramore -No matter how many times I hear it I don’t get sick of it. Seriously, I try! I don’t.
27. California by Phantom Planet -The first song I had ever heard about California that lured me into its trap.
28. I’m Sorry I’m Leaving by Saves The Day -It’s simple and it’s just about a memory that a guy has about his girl. And that he’s sad even though he has to do what he has to do.
29. At Your Funeral by Saves The Day -High school. Really, I just think of all of high school when I hear this.
30. Shiksa (Girlfriend) by Say Anything -What drew me to this song was the video. It is so inventive and when I did a paper on it for video class I learned that it has a lot more symbolism than you’d think. (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wMT4m9ee6PE)
31. Woe by Say Anything -The lyrics are AMAZING. The instrumentation is FANTASTIC. It’s catchy, and it’s a great song when you’re at a party and all your friends know every word.
32. Beauty In The Breakdown by The Scene Aesthetic -A song that got me more into acoustic, mellow music.
33. Wait by Something Corporate -A perfect example of what every acoustic song should be. Pretty chords, lyrics, it’s delicate, and it’s Something Corporate so I mean it’s great, obviously.
34. Konstantine by Something Corporate -Ten minutes of mind blowing greatness. It’s…brilliant.
35. All Hail The Heartbreaker by The Spill Canvas -It’s a good song when you’re reminiscing about past relationships or after you’ve broken up with someone.
36. Red Sky by Thrice -It’s one of those songs that I would describe as ‘epic’ really. Just the way it’s played and the beat pattern is awesome.
37. A Song For Milly Michaelson by Thrice -Yet another simple acoustic song I need to put on here because upon first listen I fell in love.
38. A Boy Brushed Red…Living In Black And White by Underoath -The first song that got me into them and made me an Oathaholic.

40. Chokechain by 3OH!3 -I thought I’d add some variety to the list. And when I hear this song I’m glad my car has spinners.
